About Matt

Matt is a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with over a decade of experience performing nationwide. Passionate about musical communication, Matt draws influence and inspiration from guitarists such as Julian Lage, Jerry Garcia, Mark Lettieri, and more. He believes lessons are best taught through the music you love, and prefers to tailor individual lesson plans to each student's likes, influences, and aspirations. 

Outside of teaching, Matt plays guitar with Fool House - a nationally touring 90’s tribute act that routinely plays 80+ shows a year all across the US. He also plays locally with SEMPLE Band, a Chicago-based cover outfit fronted by Keith Semple, a driving vocalist of the Chicago music scene that has been featured on both American Idol and The Voice. Additionally, he collaborates with Ciaran Gribbin (of the band INXS) on his corporate entertainment venture, Rock and Roll Team Building. 

You can also find him grooving with jam-funk collective The BackBeat, whom you can find on all streaming platforms. 

Outside of music, Matt is a photographer and creative consultant. If he’s not working he may be biking, gardening, or jumping out of a plane. Don’t worry, he’s licensed.
